DESCRIPTION: APW - Elgin, Father Time, Grade 373, 21J, 16S, 14K multicolor gold box hinge Solidarity HC recase with rose gold buck's head to rear surrounded by multicolor floral detail, front with rose gold shield surrounded by multicolor floral detail, gold cuvette, fancy pink and white enamel SS dial with ornate gold and silver foil decorations, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, radial sunburst pattern nickel damascene, s#16205309. Gross weight of assembled watch 64.3 dwt (100.1 g). A beautiful multicolor gold hunting case with vibrant detail in superb crisp condition. The Grade 373 movement is relatively uncommon, with a total production of 3000 made.
CONDITION: Mvt: Ticking sluggishly after a reluctant start, winding "coast" (turn of crown in reverse direction) is extremely stiff, setting mechanism is extremely stiff and was only tested to a small extent to confirm its function, overhaul needed and we recommend winding coast and setting mechanism not be further engaged until overhaul is complete so as to not put unneeded stress on winding/setting components, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, plates with some typical mild micro-fine scratches, larger winding wheel with some mild ultra-fine scratch striations likely from a past light wiping; dial with hl above seconds-register, hl within upper-left of seconds-register, edge chip and nearby edge flake at 11:30; excellent hands, seconds-hand is somewhat short; case shows virtually no wear, some attractive toning to small portion of lower front surrounding some multicolor elements, some fine scratches to front shield, no dents or dings, exquisite crisp engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows hardly any wear; good glass crystal.
ESTIMATE: $1800 - $2400
